Learn how to take control of the most powerful tool known to mankind - The Human Mind
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Discovered by Dr Richard Bandler and John Grinder, NLP is described as an attitude, a methodology and an innovative technology. In laymen’s terms, NLP means we now know we are able to learn something, unlearn something and relearn it differently.
People who have given up a habit have done just that. They used to smoke, they no longer smoke, and they now do something else instead of smoke. NLP helps the subconscious with this with the use of language patterns and hypnosis.
Most people have an internal voice that gives them instructions. Have you ever dropped something and it smashed and you can hear that voice inside your head saying “Oh! You idiot!” Does that voice tell you how you look when you see yourself in the mirror? “Oh wow, you look great!” or does it say “You ugly fat pig, you will never be attractive to anyone!” Or does it tell everyone else how great they are but beats you up every time you make an error? Is it your own voice or the voice of your Mother, Father, Teacher or ex-partner? These things can be changed for the better and you can be put back in control.
A NLP practitioner is trained in perceptual skills to assist them in recognising patterns in their client’s thoughts and actions. They help their clients to learn new techniques, either through hypnosis or language patterns. They may provide exercises/techniques that clients can do in their own time.
Everyone has their own way of thinking; for exampe, you may visualise ~ imagining what things will look like before you do them, or you may be someone who imagines what they will feel like. Someone else may imagine what things will taste, smell and sound like. When you look through a dessert menu, do you imagine what the dishes will taste like, or look like or feel like in your mouth? Maybe you do all three?
An NLP Practitioner can elicit information from a client's actions and language that tells them if their client is Visual – See, Auditory – Hear, kinaesthetic – Feel/do, or if there are situations where Olfactory – Smell and Gustatory- Taste are used, i.e. menus or grocery shopping.
With this information practitioners are able to help clients re-programme their mind to enable them to be more positive, productive and proactive.
Alison is a licenced NLP Practitioner and was trained by Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna and Michael Neill.

How Does NLP Work?
In brief
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been described as many things. For us what makes NLP distinctive is that it represents a discrete technology …quite literally the know how to do something.
NLP relies on the human capability that is within and about all of us. More specifically, NLP provides both a model of how human beings function and offers ways to apply the model to enhance both personal and professional life.
NLP operates at every logical level and in every area of human experience. The name is descriptive:
Neuro refers to our neuro-physiology—that is the functioning of the nervous system within its physiological structure
Linguistic refers to our use of language to communicate—that is in every form in which people communicate with each other
Programming (from the field of cybernetics) refers to the patterns evident in our thought, sensation and behaviour—people’s own programmes.
